Audi A7 2018 3.0TDI Preventive Timing Chain Kit Replacement (370,000 km)

Car: Audi A7 3.0TDIWork type: Timing chain kit replacementDate: 26.10.2026

The customer brought a 2018 Audi A7 3.0TDI to our workshop for a preventive timing chain kit replacement. The car had covered about 370,000 km. The goal was to replace the chains, guides and tensioners before a serious failure and possible engine damage.

Reasons for preventive service:

- High mileage of about 370,000 km - Multi-chain timing drive of the 3.0TDI V6 engine - Risk of chain stretch and worn guides at high mileage - Desire to avoid a costly engine overhaul later

We performed the timing chain kit replacement:

- Engine removal and opening of the rear / timing-chain side - Inspection and removal of the old chain kit, guides and tensioners - Installation of a new kit (chains, guides, tensioners, sprockets as needed) - Precise timing setup with special tools - Replacement of seals and engine oil - ECU basic settings and adaptation - Test drive and final check

After the preventive replacement, the engine starts and runs smoothly. The customer now has a more reliable 3.0TDI without the risk of a sudden chain failure later.
